The Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination Portal Is Opened Now.

2019 candidates can now login to print the results slip and Provisional license (certificate).

Follow the steps below to login:

Ghana Education Service (GES) requirement guidelines to recruit qualified newly trained teachers for the 2020/2021 academic year.

Per the guidelines, candidates who wish to be considered for employment as teachers under the GES should have;

Completed and passed the final-year College of Education Examination.

Passed the Teacher Licensure Examination.

Completed the mandatory National Service

Such candidates should be prepared and ready to work wherever they will be posted by the GES.

NB: Persons who do not meet all these started requirements will not be shortlisted/Posted.

Christian Addai Poku, executive secretary for NTC

  National Teaching Council,NTC is a part of process to give Teachers license according to ACT 778, which states that " The mandate of the NTC is to professionalise teaching in the country, Ghana. This was put in place to make sure that, completing a college or educational courses in school doesn't qualify you enough to teach in the Basic schools in the country.
  In an interview with Nana Yaw Kesseh, host of Kookrokoo morning show on Peace Fm, today Christian Addai Poku stated: In- service teachers do not write exams to be given their licence. In service teachers are given their licence and then will go through training i.e Continuos Assessment Development and then renew their licence in 2-3 year after.

He said, it is pre-service teachers who are required to write their licensure exams before they are employed to teach in our schools.

In addition, he said, the March and September licensure exams result will be out in the first week of February. And added that, you will have to pay before you are given your licence.

 The Ghana Education Service (GES) wishes to inform the general public, particularly trained teachers who completed colleges of education in 2018; have written and passed the Teacher Licensure Examination, and are completing their National Service, that the processing of their postings is underway.
  Eligible candidates who duly applied online will be shortlised and postings effective by the end of November, 2019.
  We also wish to state that there will be consideration for University graduates with Basic Education and Early Childhood Certificates who have passed the licensure examinations and completed National Service as well.
The GES reserves the right to post teachers to where their services are needed. The general public is therefore cautioned not to make any payment to person who promise to facilitate their posting process.

According to the NaCCA the popular examination has outlived its
relevance. The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) has
revealed that the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) will soon be scrapped from the country’s educational system.

According to executive secretary of NaCCA, Dr Prince Hamid Armah, the popular examination has outlived its relevance. Speaking to Francis Abban on the Morning Starr Thursday, Dr. Armah said there is enough evidence to support the need to introduce a new approach in testing the quality of teaching that pupils receive in Ghanaian schools. “The nomenclature called BECE will be scrapped totally. An exams will be used to do placements going forward. A criterion reference system will be used, BECE has outlived its usefulness in this country. The reports are there to prove this. The current examination known as the BECE is not Standard,” he said. He also disclosed “The National Assessment Test will be done at Primary 2, 4 ,6 & JHS 2. The end of term exams will not be replaced by the Assessment Test. “At primary 2 the children will write the National Assessment Test so we can tell their strengths and weaknesses. When we identify the learning gaps the teachers will have to give such children special attention. Every Ghanaian child would write end of term exams. The precious curriculum is what we describe as the objectivism curriculum. It focused more on what the teacher must achieve. This one focuses on what the children should know”.

National Teaching Council is indexing all the Trainee Teachers in the country. NTC is taking details of collegians to generate codes for Trainees for them to easily access the website of NTC and that is the indexing. Please be informed that NTC will send SMS message via your
mobile number you provided to your college.The SMS bears your Name, your code and the link to NTC website. Please once you receive the message, open the link and fill in the necessary requirements as may be needed. To the 1st and 2nd years (prospective level 200s and 300s) You will be required to scan your admission letter. If you have lost
the admission letter, please contact the College secretaries for new ones to complete the form.
To the newly trained teachers (2019). Just like the above, you will be required to scan the admission letter as part of the requirements (that is the ideal document needed) but because you are no more on campus, you can use the student identification card in place of the admission letter. This provision is for only the newly trained teachers.
