nCOVID-19 - COMFIRMED CASES IN GHANA HIT 161.

The confirmed cases of COVID -19 recorded in Ghana has risen from 152 to 161 as at 16:40 GMT 31st March 2020.

All nine (9) new cases were reported from Accra, three (3) of them travelled to Ghana within the past 14 days from Germany, France and Hungary respectively but for six (6) of them there is no history of travel outside.

Ghana’s Situation Mandatory Quaratine (Accra)

The Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research (KCCR) also reported on tests from 77 samples including samples from 41 asymptomatic contacts of a case from Tamale Teaching Hospital and all are NEGATIVE for COVID-19.

This brings up to a total of 161 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Ghana, including five (5) deaths as of 31 st March 2020 at 15:00Hr.

Three (3) of the confirmed cases have fully recovered and reverted to negative status for COVID-19 after repeat test following recovery from symptoms. As at 31st March 2020, additional thirty-one (31) confirmed cases have significantly improved with no symptoms and have been discharged from admission for home care pending repetition of laboratory tests. This adds to the 18 that were earlier being managed from home and bring the number of cases on home care to forty-nine (49).

Ghana’s Situation Mandatory Quaratine (Tamale)

Processes for enhanced contact tracing and laboratory testing have been initiated. A total of 1,185 contacts have been identified and are being followed up.

NB: All those five(5) patients reported dead had an underlying chronic disease.

TEMALE QUARNTINE ESCAPEE FINALLY FOUND

The Guinean national who escaped from quarantine at a guest house in Tamale has been found. The 21 year old Guinean was among ten persons in mandatory quarantine after they tested positive for coronavirus.

According to the Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Saed, the young lady scaled the wall at midnight, leaving behind her belongings including mobile phone.

She was found in the Kumbungu District of the Northern Region.

There are fears that the escapee might have exposed other people including residents of the community where she was arrested to the virus.

The Northern Regional Minister disclosed that, “three ambulances are on standby to transport the ten positive cases back to Burkina Faso.”

There Will Be More Covid-19 cases If....Kojo Oppong Nkrumah.

Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah says the number of coronavirus cases may increase in the country.

Ghana's covid-19 cases have arisen to one hundred and fifty-two (152).

Eleven new cases were confirmed by the Ghana Health Service on Sunday, March 29, 2020 with ten (10) of the cases being among persons under mandatory quarantine in Tamale.

The 10 cases involved Guinean residents who travelled through Burkina Faso and Togo to Ghana and were picked up following intelligence report; and the 11th case was recorded in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.

As a result of the spread of covid-19, President Nana Akufo-Addo on Friday, March 27, 2020 declared a partial lockdown of Accra and Kumasi effective 1 am on Monday, March 30, 2020.

Speaking to host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Monday's edition of PEACE FM's 'Kokrokoo' on the partial restrictions imposed on the movement of goods and services, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah stated that though the government is making frantic efforts to curb the virus infection; it is not certain that the numbers will reduce unless Ghanaians abide by the lockdown.

He cautioned the citizenry that the spread may highten if they do not treat the lockdown seriously knowing that the virus is transfered through contacts with persons who may or may not know they are infected.

''If you assume that all the 1000 have been infected, this figure is about a fifth of it before you even come to the people who were on board the 28 flights. So, as for the numbers, you can make extrapolations. Some have even done calculations that if average person transfers the virus to 10 people, how much will you have within 2 weeks?'' he quizzed.

He appealed to persons who may have symptoms akin to corona virus to contact the emergency lines or visit the nearest hospital to get tested.
